A group of bored roommates are drawn towards a wild acid house party across the street. The lines between peer pressure and cautionary advice keep getting blurrier with every shot of tequila.
The KLANKPARTIJ, a lockdown band of party hit wizards, releases a new dancefloor destroyer from within a parallel cartoon dimension. TEQUILA ACID PARTY.
-Bizarre ambiguous messages in Surinamese Dutch (Ga naar dat feestje, yu o si wat er gaat gebeuren, Go to that party, you’ll see how you’ll end up) add fuel to the fire of the track’s equally bizarre hypnotic bassline.
-There is a correct procedure to drink tequila (pour glass, lick salt from hand, take shot, bite lime) but it is, at the same time, very wrong.
-The pink elephant parade in Dumbo is an important moment in animation history, but so is Weebl’s 2003 Badger song.
-Some words in Surinamese dialects sound like Dutch, others like English. There is an ugly colonial connection with both.
-Modern music needs catchy lyrics and groovy dance choreography to attract any interest whatsoever
-You know you’ll regret everything about this party in the morning, but you go anyway.
These are just some of the hazy and contradictory thoughts that gave rise to the visual universe of Tequila Acid Party.
Suddenly we’re inside the stomach, which looks like a sort of nuclear reactor about to go into meltdown. Or is that where we have been all along?
