A catchy song recaps some of the most memorable events in the Belgian news of the past year. Society seems weirder than ever. It’s no wonder that many people are feeling disoriented and demotivated for the upcoming elections. Belgian newspaper De Standaard urges the people to gather balanced and reliable information: arm themselves to go out and vote, despite all the absurdities. The chorus of the song “Niet kiezen is verliezen”: “If you don’t vote, you choose to lose”.
Mutant agency devised this campaign for De Standaard and asked us to develop a visual equivalent to the catchy tune: colorful singing heads is a loose hand drawn style. There are 5 videos in total, distributed on television, cinema and social media. If you’re in the Flemish part of the country at the time of publishing, February 2024, there’s a fair chance the song is already stuck in your head from frequent exposure.
